Notes :

"Keith Haring (www.haring.com) created a powerful visual language which fused art and popular culture with his lexicon of images that spoke to a large audience, both outside and inside the art world.

Keith Haring, this first American Retrospective of Haring's oeuvre, features more than 100 pieces highlighting his signature public drawings and sculptures and his lesser-known intimate paintings. The exhibit includes videos of public projects in the United States and abroad and vitrines that link his life to his artwork. The show begins with his early years in Kutztown, Pennsylvania and his discovery of New York's alternative street and club culture. It continues with his success in the commercial art world and focuses on Haring's selfless social activism that he maintained throughout his prolifically creative life.

In conjunction with the exhibition, The Public Art Fund has installed several Haring sculptures in the neighborhood of the Whitney Museum of American Art"
