Notes : [ This MCA survey exhibition recognises the formidable achievement of one of the most original artists of his generation. Museums were never the first to appreciate Haring's work, which seemed to bypass them in pursuit of more direct modes of public communication. Haring was confident, however, that his contribution would eventually be acknowledged in the domain of `high' culture. He told biographer John Gruen, `Well, I really do believe that it will all happen later - the acceptance.
